Parish Life

Parish Life Ministry . . .

Parish Life consists of a variety of groups and organizations that provide social, athletic, wellness, environmental, clerical, creative and care opportunities for all ages of parishioners.

ATHLETIC MINISTRY
The athletic program at Our Lady of Lourdes provides the opportunity for every child who attends the school or belongs to the parish community to participate in team sports.  The program promotes self-esteem and respect for others through competition in a Christian manner, with the emphasis on good sportsmanship. The Athletic Ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes exists for the benefit of the children of our parish who wish to improve their physical and mental well-being by participating in structured athletic programs.

BOOSTER CLUB
Booster Club Membership is open to all women and men of the parish who wish to promote and support the various parish sports programs. The Booster Club is the prime organizer of the annual Homecoming Festival, a celebration of summer for the Parish with social activities, games, good, and family fun. The Booster Club jointly sponsors the Lenten Fish Fries with the PTO. Volunteers work in a variety of activities.

COFFEE AND DONUTS
This gathering ordinarily takes place after all masses on the first Sunday of the month, September through June. The purpose is to promote community among parishioners. It is hosted by various groups and ministries of the parish.

FAN CLUB
This is a social organization of people 50 years and older enjoying each other's company and encouraging participation of seniors in the parish community. Monthly meetings are held and games or programs and refreshments follow business meetings. Outside programs include trips, attending theater productions, dinners, and sporting events, and visits to historical sites and places of interest.

HEALTH SCREENINGS
Blood pressure screening by health professionals is offered after the 5:30 PM, 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM masses on a monthly basis. A health care committee meets regularly to determine, promote and provide additional health and wellness activities and opportunities.

NEIGHBORHOOD REPRESENTATIVES
Persons act as ambassadors between parishioners and the parish and work with parish council representatives to communicate with members when needs arise.

SCOUTING
Many men and women serve as leaders, assistant leaders and merit badge counselors in the parish sponsored Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops.

VISITATION TO THE SICK AND ELDERLY
Compassionate parishioners visit other parish members who are nursing-home residents on a regular basis.
